CANBY GATORS CONTINUE PACE AT CAT MEET
The Canby Gators
continue to earn state qualifying times at CAT Open May 17 and
18 in Corvallis. The Gators had nine state qualifiers and
finished with eleven swimmers scoring individually. Four
swimmers finished with all best times and one new team record
was set.
Brandi Beko earned
a state time in the 200 fly. Her sister nine year old Kelli
Beko earned state times in the 100 fly, 200 free, 50 fly and
the 100 free. Jessi Broberg swam to a state qualifying time in
the 200 fly as well. Ross Brown finished with five state
times. They were in the 50 free, 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 fly and
the 100 free. Michael Hargitt finished with state qualifying
times in the 400 IM and the 200 fly. Kayla Livesay also earned
state times in the 100 fly, 200 fly and the 400 IM. Krissy
Peterson qualified for state in the 50 free and the 100 free.
Samantha Smith finished with state times in the 100 free, 200
breast, and the 200 back. Tyson Polack rounded out the group
with state qualifying times in the 200 IM, 100 back, 400 free,
400 IM, 200 back and the 200 fly. He also set a new team
record in the 400 free in a time of 4:31.92. The time
qualified for the new team record in the 15-18 age group and
the Open Age group.
Finishing with all
best times for Canby were, Kelli Beko, Ross Brown, Taylor
Brown, and Luke Welle. Gators also continuing to make great
strides at the meet were Carson Manning and Kelsye Coyle.
Carson earned three best times at the meet.
Scoring
individually for the Canby Gators were; Kelli Beko in the 100
fly, 200 free and finishing 10 the 100 free. Ross Brown
finished 14th in the 200 fly. Jessi Broberg was 14th
in the 200 breast. Michael Hargitt finished 15th in
the 100 back and 6th in the 400 IM and the 200 fly.
Karlee Livesay finished 14th in the 100 fly. Kayla
Livesay was 15th in the 100 fly and 11th
in the 200 fly. Krissy Peterson earned 16th in the
400 IM, 15th in the 100 free, 12th in the
100 fly and 3rd in the 50 free. Tyson Polack
finished 9th in the 200 IM, 7th in the
100 back and the 400 IM, 6th in the 200 back and
finished 4th in the 400 free and the 200 fly. Seth
Ruwitch finished 12th in the 100 breast and 9th
in the 200 breast. Samantha Smith was 14th in the
50 free and 100 back and finished 3rd in the 200
breast. Luke Welle finished with 14th in the 50
free, 100 fly, 100 breaststroke and was 8th in the
100 free.

CANBY GATORS OPEN SEASON AT
TUALATIN HILLS OPEN
The Canby Gators
began the long course season in the usual way, earning best
times at the Tualatin Hills Open May 2 - 4 in Beaverton. The
Gators finished with ten swimmers earning state qualifying
times, eleven swimming to all best times, ten swimmers
finished in the top sixteen individually in at least one
event and one Canby team record was broken.
Gators swimming
to state qualifying times were: Brandi Beko finished with a
state time in the 800 free. Kelli Beko made state qualifying
times in the 50 back, 50 free and the 200 free. Jessi Broberg
finished with state time in the 200 Fly. Michael Hargitt
earned state qualifying times in the 1500 free, 100 breast,
200 back, 400 IM, 200 breast and the 200 IM. Carrie Kralovec
finished with state qualifying times in the 200 free and the
100 fly. Kayla Livesay swam to state times in the 100 fly
and the 200 fly. Krissy Peterson made state times in the 200
free, 50 free, 100 free and the 200 IM. Tyson Polack earned
state times in the 200 back, 200 fly, 100 back and the 200
IM. Samantha Smith finished with state times in the 800
free, 100 breast, 100 fly, 400 IM, 200 fly, 200 breast, and
the 200 IM. Luke Welle also made a state time in the 1500
freestyle.
Earning all best
times in the meet for Canby were: Kelli Beko, Jessi Broberg,
Cole Hackett, Michael Hargitt, Carrie Kralovec, Karlee
Livesay, Carson Manning, Amanda Moore, Kendra Olsen, Sara
Scott, and Luke Welle. Kelsye Coyle finished with a great
best time in the 800 free while Anna Kralovec dropped 11
seconds in her 100 fly.
Canby Gators
finishing in the top 16 individually were: Luke Welle in the
50 free, Tyson Polack in the 200 back, 100 back and the 200
IM. Krissy Peterson earned five top finishes with a 3rd
in the 100 free and 2nd in the 50 free. Kayla
Livesay finished top 16 in the 200 fly. Karlee Livesay was
top 16 in the 100 and 200 fly. Carrie Kralovec finished top
16 in four events including a 5th place in the 50
back. Michael Hargitt finished top sixteen in the 200 back,
400 IM, 100 breast, 200 IM and finished 4th in the
200 breaststroke. Kelli Beko finished top 16 in the 50 free
and the 200 free. Samantha Smith in all of her events
including a 3rd place finish in the 100 breast.
Samantha also swam to a new team record in the 200 IM for 15
-18 girls in a time of 2:39.00.

CANBY GATORS BREAK TEAM RECORDS
AT AGE GROUP SECTIONALS
Canby Gator
swimmers broke sixteen team records at the Age Group
Sectional meet in Federal Way, Washington March 14-16. The
Age Group Section meet had swimmers from Alaska, Hawaii,
Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. The Canby
swimmers held their own with six individual finalists. Tyson
Polack and Samantha Smith also stepped up to the next level
by qualifying for Senior Sectionals.
Representing the
Canby Gators at the sectional meet were: Brandi Beko, Kelsye
Coyle, Michael Hargitt, Kayla Livesay, Krissy Peterson, Tyson
Polack, Seth Ruwitch, Samantha Smith Kayley Guay and Anna
Kralovec.
Brandi swam six
individual events plus relays. She swam the 200 IM, 200 fly,
200 free, 100 free, 1650 free and made it to the top 8 in the
500 free finishing 7th.
Kelsye Coyle swam
the 200 back and the 100 fly and swam in all of the 15-18
girls relays. Kelsye, Kayley Guay, Brandi Beko and Kayla
Livesay broke the team record in the 400 medley relay
finishing with a time of 4:26.16. Kayley swam in both the
medley relays while Anna Kralovec swam in the 200 free, 400
free and 200 medley relays. K
Kayla Livesay
swam the 100 and 200 fly, finishing with a best time of
2:21.71 in the 200 fly. Kayla also swam on three of the girls
relays.
Michael Hargitt
swam six individual races finishing in the top eight in two.
He swam the 200 back, 200 IM, 200 Fly, the 1650 free. He then
finished 7th in the 200 breaststroke and 3rd
in the 400 IM, with a new team record of 4:23.72 in the IM.
Krissy Peterson
swam the 50 free at the sectional meet finishing 26th
overall.
Seth Ruwitch swam
two events the 200 breaststroke and the 100 breaststroke.
Seth made finals in the 100 breaststroke finishing in 4th
place.
Samantha Smith
swam six individual events at the sectional meet. She
finished 18th in the 400 IM, 13th in
the 200 fly, 10th in the 100 fly, 8th
in the 200 IM, 4th in the 100 breaststroke and 2nd
in the 100 breaststroke. Samantha also earned two Senior
Sectional times in the 100 and 200 breaststroke. She also
broke the 13-14 and the open Canby Gator records in the 100
breaststroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 IM and the 400 IM.
Tyson Polack swam
in six events individually finishing 9th in the
200 IM, 4th in the 200 fly, 400 IM, 100 back, 1650
free and 3rd in the 200 back. Tyson also earned
Senior Sectional times in the 200 back and the 1650 free. He
broke the Canby Gator team records in for the 13-14 boys in
the 500 free, 1000 free, 1650 free, and the 400 IM. He also
broke the Gator open records in the 1000 free and the 1650
freestyle.
The Sectional
Meet was a great finish to the short course season the Canby
swimmers really did well and it was great to see so many top
eight finishes and team records fall.

GATORS EXCEL AT SEASON FINALE
MEET
The Gators had a
great season finale meet in Tualatin March 1 and 2. The
Season Finale meet is a whole team meet with Bend,
McMinnville, Tigard Tualatin and Canby. The meet ends the
season for most of the swimmers and give others a last chance
to qualify for sectionals. Canby had five swimmers earn
sectional times and six swimmers earn state qualifying
times.
Gators qualifying
for the age group sectional meet March 14-16 in Federal Way,
Washington were: Brandi Beko, Kayla Livesay, Krissy Peterson,
Seth Ruwitch and Michael Hargitt. They will be joined at the
meet with Tyson Polack, Krissy Peterson, Kelsye Coyle, Anna
Kralovec, and Kayley Guay. Brandi, Kayla, Krissy, Seth and
Michael also earned state qualifying times at the season
finale meet along with eight year old Kelli Beko.
Canby had several
swimmers finish in the top eight individually. They were
Nolan Bauermeister, Jessi Broberg, Carson Manning, Madeline
Meredith, Amanda Moore, Kendra Olsen, Kylie Oster, Sara Scott
and Dane Yu. In addition there were more Gators in the top
eight including at least one first place finish; They were
Brandi Beko with a first place finish in all six events.
Kelli Beko who finished first in the 25 breast and the 25
fly. Kayley Guay was first in the 100 breast. Michael
Hargitt finished first in the 100 free, 200 free and the 500
free. Alex Hendrick was first in the 50 back. Carrie
Kralovec finished first in the 100 free, 200 fly and the 200
IM. Kayla Livesay finished first in the 500 free, while
Krissy Peterson was first in the 50 free and 100 breast. Seth
Ruwitch finished first in the 200 breast, 200 IM and the 100
Breast. Austin Moses earned a first place finish in the 50
breaststroke. Luke Welle was first in the 200 fly, 50 free
and the 100 fly.
Top Relays for
Canby were the 13 & over 200 medley relay with Brandi Beko,
Kayley Guay, Kayla Livesay and Krissy Peterson finishing
first in a time of 2:01.94. The 12 and under girls 200 free
relay finished in third place with swimmers Carrie Kralovec,
Kylie Oster, Dane Yu and Alex Hendrick, there time was
2:09.02.
Swimming to best
times were Ashley Ahlgren in all four events, Courtney
Ahlgren in three events dropping 13 seconds. Nolan
Bauermeister earned all best times. Brandi Beko had three
best times, Kelli Beko had three best times including a 14
second drop in the 500 free. Alexandra Cavender dropped 8
seconds in the 50 breast. Michael Hargitt dropped time in
three events including a 9 second drop and a sectional time
in the 500 free. Alex Hendrick had best times in every event
dropping 14 second overall. Samantha Ingle swam to all best
times. Carrie Kralovec swam to two best times in three
races. Kayla Livesay had four best times including a nine
second drop in the 500 free. Carson Manning had best times in
four events including a 19 second best time in the 100
breast. Amanda Moore finished with five of six best times and
a 13 second drop in the 200 free. Kendra Olsen dropped 21
seconds in her 200 free. Kylie Oster dropped time in four of
her six events. Krissy Peterson swam to best times in four
events including a nine second drop in the 200 fly. Gabi
Russell had all best times. Seth Ruwitch swam to best times
in five of six events. Sara Scott earned four best times.
Austin Webb earned four best times including a five second
drop in the 50 breast that earned him the first place. Dane
Yu finished with four best times and Luke Welle swam to best
times in all six events and dropped over 15 seconds in all.
The Season Finale
meet turned out to be a great team meet for Canby and the
other teams the swimmers really had a great time shown by all
the great swims at the meet.
