The Canby Swim
Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of
all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Canby
Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of
our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and
developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.
Senior Group
This group is composed of experienced, dedicated swimmers 12/13 and
older. They
practice five days a week in the afternoon for 105 minutes.In
addition, they do dryland
exercises and flexibility training in the afternoon, 5 days a week.
The swimmers are
strongly encouraged to participate in any and all meets he/she
qualifies for including
2 and 3 day
meets, Championships, Sectionals, Zones and Nationals.
Senior Prep Group
This is a transition from the Age Group level to the Senior level.
Swimmers practice five
days a week for 90 minutes. Emphasis is on serious training.
There is an increased
commitment to local, state and sectional goals. Swimmers are
encouraged to participate
in all meets he/she qualifies for including, 2 and 3 day
meets, A Championships, Sectionals,
Zones and Nationals.
Age Group
This is the intermediate level and is somewhat divided by ages.
They practice up to five
days a week in the afternoon for 60 minutes. Swimmers increase
training and begin
aerobic development. Emphasis is on technique, race strategy, clock
and listening skills.
Swimmers are encouraged to participate in all meets he/she
qualifies for including, 2 and 3
day meets, A Championships, Sectionals, Zones and Nationals.
Novice Group
These are the beginner swimmers who need only be able to swim
freestyle with side
breathing and backstroke to join the team. This group also includes
returning swimmers
who are improving their skills and becoming developmentally strong.
They practice three
days a week in the afternoon for 45 minutes. Swimmers will be
introduced to starts and
turns and will learn the four legal strokes (butterfly, backstroke,
breaststroke, freestyle).
Swimmers are encouraged to participate in all meets, beginning with
the duel meets, until
they are comfortable with the progress.
