On
November 21 the Canby Swim Club hosted the Canby Triple J Mile
Open. The meet had over seventy-five swimmers from Oregon and
southwest Washington. All the swimmers swam only one event: the
swimmers mile, 1,650 yards. Fourteen Canby Gators were in the meet,
seven girls and seven boys. Top finishers for the Gators were
Samantha Smith who earned a fourth place and Michael Hargitt who
also earned fourth place.
On
the Canby Gators girls side: Carrie Kralovec dropped 1 minute 18
seconds. Jessi Broberg dropped 20 seconds. Kayley Guay finished in
18th place. Alex Hendrick swam the mile for the first
time. Veronica Norris dropped 36 seconds in the mile, and Sam Ingle
also swam the mile for the fist time.
Canby
Gator boys: Luke Welle dropped 44 seconds and finished
6th. Dean Mischell earned a 13th place
finish, Spencer Polack dropped 10 seconds and was 14th.
Casey O’Brien was 28th and loves swimming the
mile. Noah Norris dropped over a minute and 30 seconds, and Bryon
Langford swam the mile for the first time.
