Anyone who can swim 25 yards freestyle & backstroke and wants to learn more about swimming is welcome to join the Canby Swim Club.
The Canby Swim Club relies on its membership for income in order to meet its budget and financial obligations. Canby Swim Club is responsible for paying coach salaries, payroll taxes, coach meet expenses, plus other normal business expenses. As a member of Canby Swim Club you must make monthly dues payments and meet seasonal fundraising requirements as well as volunteering time at meets and other fundraising events.
New Member Tryout Period
If you are trying out for the Canby Swim Club, you have a two-week, no obligation try-out period. If, after participating for two weeks, you do not want to join Canby Swim Club, there is no financial obligation.
Tryouts are available with the Canby Swim Club anytime during the season. Swimmers interested in trying out the Canby Swim Club in August or September should wait and plan to register in early September for the upcoming fall season.
For liability purposes, online registration must be completed and registration fees must be received by the Canby Swim Club before the swimmer can enter the water. Register online by going to "Start Registration" on the left sidebar of www.canbygators.com. After online registration, you will be notified by Canby Swim Club to arrange the start date of your swimmer’s two-week trial period. The Swim Club will hold your payment until your swimmer completes their two-week trial period, and decides if they would like to join the Canby Swim Club.
US Swimming Registration
Every member of Canby Swim Club must be a registered member with United States Swimming. The fee is $59 per swimmer annually. Membership includes secondary accidental insurance and liability insurance for the swimmer. Current members will be billed during fall registration for their participation in U.S.S. for the next calendar year.

Late Payment Policy :
Payment is due in full by the 20th of each month. A $25 late fee will be assessed to any account with a balance over $0.00 on the 21st of each month.
If full payment (including late fee) has not been received by the last day of the month, the swimmer will be suspended from the team and will not be eligible to participate in Canby Swim Club activities, including practice, until full payment is received and posted to the account
The Board may find that if an account has what it determines to be a consistent inability to provide sufficient funds (nsf checks) that cash-only payments may be required for said account until payment is received and posted to the family account.
Fundraising Obligation
Canby Swim Club creates its budget around the required amount of fundraising for each member of the team. If a family fails to meet their fundraising requirement, Canby Swim Club may not be able to meet its budget. Each member of Canby Swim Club is required to raise a minimum of $200.00 during the fiscal year (September - August) through Club fundraisers or by paying the required fee. The fundraising obligation can be met through a Swim-A-Thon and poinsettia sale in the short course season and a plant sale in the long course season. Members not raising the minimum during the available fundraisers will be billed for the balance at the end of the last fundraiser (usually in June). To ensure financial stability, fundraising assessments are due in full at the end of the fiscal year. The fundraising obligation will be prorated for families who join the team mid-year.
Maximum Family Assessment : No family will be asked to fundraise more than $400 for the entire fiscal year.
Volunteer Obligation
Other than coaches, Canby Swim Club is operated completetly by volunteers. The volunteer efforst of EVERY member are needed to keep the Club running smoothly and to help keep our dues and fees low. The Canby Swim Club requires each family to volunteer a minimum of ten (10) hours during the year. This is a separate obligation from the Gator Grinder Triathlon obligation. Families who do not meet the minimum volunteer requirement will be invoiced for remaining hours at a rate of $10/hour. Volunteer hours will be prorated for families who join the team mid-year.
Every family is asked to volunteer in the following events.
Gator Home Swim Meets: The Club hosts approximately four home swim meets per year (November through February). These meets not only provide our swimmers opportunities to compete, but also provide needed income to the team. We ask that every family volunteer in some way at each of our home meets whether or not your swimmer is participating in the meet.
High School Meets: Canby High School pays Canby Swim Club to host three to five high school swim meets each year (December & January). These meets are on weekday afternoons from about 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. We ask that as many families as possible volunteer to help at our high school meets. High School meets are fast-paced and short. They are a fun way to help out your team!
Gator Grinder Triathlon: In addition to the annual fundraising obligation, each family is required to assist in the Canby Swim Club "Gator Grinder Triathlon" held in May (usually the Saturday before Mother’s Day). This contributes to our fundraising efforts and is only possible with every family’s participation. There will be a $150 charge per family for those families who choose not to participate
Meet Entries
Parents register their swimmer(s) in meets using the team website, www.canbygators.com . Parents will be sent meet notices by email as meet entries become available. You are responsible for registering your swimmers for meets and for specifying which days you wish to attend. Once a meet has been entered, you are financially responsible for your swimmer's entries even if you choose not to attend the meet. Relays are formed based on the swimmers entered in the meet. If a relay cannot be swum because a swimmer chose not to attend the meet, the entire relay fee will be billed to the missing swimmer.
Meet entries are included on your monthly invoice. They are billed when the team has paid the fee to the host team. This could be the same month, the previous month, or the month following the meet. The relay portion of the meet may be billed on a subsequent invoice.
